We now invite you to dedicate yourself to an act of Sacred Service to the Holy Virgin Mary. This act of Consecration has been practiced for many centuries and follows the methods of Saint Louis de Montfort.
Saint Louis de Montfort
Introduced at the beginning of the 18th century, Saint Louis de Montfort’s formal Consecration to Mary is a process of becoming consecrated to Our Lord Jesus Christ through acts of sacred service and personal entrustment to the Beloved Virgin Mary. This method is highly regarded throughout Christendom with the Vatican’s own guidelines stating: “Louis de Montfort is one of the great masters of the spirituality underlying the act of ‘consecration to Mary’. He proposed to the faithful consecration to Jesus through Mary, as an effective way of living out their baptismal commitment…”
This Consecration to Mary takes 34 days to complete with the 34th day being the actual day of Consecration. While it does require daily commitment and dedication, it is truly one of the most spiritually profound acts that anyone can undertake. This Consecration in no way diminishes or supplants our love for God. It does in fact, magnify it, for all Marian devotions and consecrations are ultimately made to the glory of our Heavenly Father. As Saint Louis, Saint Maximilian and others have revealed,
“The Immaculate alone has from God the promise of victory over Satan. She seeks souls that will consecrate themselves entirely to her, that will become in her hands forceful instruments for the defeat of Satan and the spread of God’s kingdom.” –
A decision to undertake this call to Sacred Service should not be taken lightly and, ideally, should only be made after a thorough reading of ‘The True Devotion’. Once completed, this Consecration to Mary takes on the character of a Vow.
The procedure for the ‘Consecration to Mary’ is divided into four steps as follows;
